Ready to Roll

This week’s adventures: a 1981 Honda C70 Passport scooter owned by none other than Matt Schnable from Harvest Records. And a 1976 Honda CB750 K6 motorcycle rescued by yours truly. Not a “barn find” in the strictest sense, as those usually come from within a barn. This ol’ beaut was posted up behind an old tobacco barn in Tennessee patiently awaiting my arrival.

Check back periodically as I put up some info on recent and past projects. Plus keep your eye out for a special new page on non-motorized RestoRevivals!

About Lyman Edwards

A multi-talented dude from the swampy woods of North Florida, Lyman has a couple blogs chronicling his adventures and art endeavors. Lyman's art is about community and social action, and is centered around wood fired pizza ovens that he builds, currently in Asheville, NC. These adventures can be followed at www.lymanedwardsceramics.wordpress.com. His other blog, www.restorevival.wordpress.com, follows his encounters with vintage machines of transportation. Twenty plus years of maintenance and restoration and his propensity for fine art and craftsmanship give him a keen eye and steady hand when breathing new life into these old motorcycles, cars, and boats.

Wow, talk about stirring the old juices. I’m ready to start looking for old bikes, just for fun. For me it was the old trucks, but they too were almost all behind or beside barns, never in towns, and often were just sitting out somewhere in a field looking as if they broke down right there and the owner, usually a farmer, just walked away and never looked back until I came along. If you are interested I can share some “come ons” I used so the owner didn’t think he had a sudden collectable worth some $. Oh, and while you’re out there, I’ll pay $50.00 for any Airstream or similar aluminum old trailers, if I can make a deal with owner. Yippee, here we go!
Thanks man! send pics of bikes.

I had an old single axel Avion and made that decesion that I still regret. I sold it. Damnit! Want another silver bullet so bad……I know where a few old ones sit, just never approached owners. The dream of restoring an old Airstream will have to wait till there is more space and more funds…..The scooter is killer…..Corey, my seventeen yr. old is dying to restore a motorcycle….

    Hey Lyman,

You met my Dad (Marcus,) I would love to Restore an old motorcycle for my senior exit project, I’m a junior right now. I have a 63 VW bug, i’m taking auto-mechanics classes at ab-tech right now, and i’m getting the hang of working on cars. Send me an e-mail at coreysizemore55@yahoo.com and maybe we can talk sometime. i really like the work your doing and am very curious and eager to learn about your trade.
